About Myself:
My name is Nuala Black and I hail from Ireland.
I qualified from Mary Immaculate Training College, Limerick, Ireland in 1993.
I taught for a year and then joined a Lay Missionary Group called Youth With A Mission for 4 years.
In that time I did a lot of drama, worked with youth and church groups across the denominations, travelled and helped set up children's liturgy in parishes around
the diocese of Dublin, Ireland.
I came back to teaching and taught in St. Brigid's National School for 7 years teaching in special needs and as Home/School/Community/ Liaison Officer (refer to Teaching Experience for description) in a shared capacity with Francis Street Christian Brothers School.
I took a career break and went to Scotland where I met my husband. We got married in Ireland and I resigned my position in Dublin.
We moved to Australia in 2007.
We have two young children and bought our own business last year. I have been doing supply work in the local catholic schools in the area this year to supplement our income.
This, needless to say has kept me busy!
I am currently studying my fourth year upgrade online through the Australian Catholic University.
I have been enjoying learning new things:
Linking English Literature across different curricular subjects;
How to teach with technology in the classroom;
Reflecting on different learning spaces and how they can inform, shape, influence and provide possibilities for learning in the future.
I am looking forward to getting back to the classroom and using the knowledge I now have to invigorate, inform and revitalise my teaching!
One thing I have learnt while studying is that we learn all the time.
Below is a slideshow of my learning spaces, where I do some deep thinking!
It made me realise we are learning all the time and as teachers we need to give students the time to process and digest what they have
